THOUGHTS
- as you can tell, most of the stuff i produced this year was short n sweet. i don't think a longer word count is automatically better (please linger near the door is probably my favorite fic this year), but i do wish i had pushed myself to write some plottier or more substantial things. i feel like i've gotten better at plotting over the years, so i feel a little like i wasted those skills?

- most popular kpop fic: wear it out like a sweater (i maintain that the souljoo SOTUS au was underrated but me having a typo IN THE SUMMARY!!! probably didn't help). most popular bl fic: the most beautiful part of your body is where it's headed (solid choice, this is not a bad fic)

- lines i liked:

Third feels like he's having an out-of-body experience, as though seeing Khai through his freshman eyes, when he physically ached for this level of devotion from Khai. (got you covered (under covers))

"Maybe I should've," Tine admits. "I miss you."

Sarawat laughs softly, a puff of air against his phone. It's a reversal of their usual pattern, the one where Sarawat makes declarations of love and Tine trips over his words trying to make sense of his own feelings. "I miss you too."

"I miss your voice," Tine says. He feels the urge suddenly to tug his blanket over his head, to hide away where it's only him and Sarawat. "Sing for me?" (please linger near the door)

Sarawat squints at him. "You only listen to one band?"

"Hey! They're the only band you need," Tine says. He holds up his hand, ticking off on his fingers. "They have songs for happy occasions, songs for when you're sad, songs for being in love. There's a Scrubb song for every situation."

"Is there a Scrubb song for this moment?" Sarawat asks.

"There is, let me think," Tine says, sitting back to take in the mood. They're still mostly alone out here, seated at a bench under a canopy of vines and fairy lights. Tine feels pleasantly floaty instead of dizzy now, sentimental for a time and place that is happening in the present. He thumbs through Scrubb's discography on his phone and stops at Together. "This one." (the most beautiful part of your body is where it's headed)

Then it hits Off again—they're going to have sex. For a moment, he thinks about the Off of three years ago, the one who had no idea what to do with Gun's clammy hand in his or Gun's mouth against his neck. It had taken him far too long to realize that Gun thought it was funny to see him squirm and by then, their habits were already formed. Now, Gun's body automatically curves toward Off when they're in the same room and wherever he's sitting or standing, Off unconsciously leaves a space for Gun to slip in.

Three years ago, Off didn't know that to love working with someone could be confused with love, that indulging was the precursor to craving. (evidence of a love)

Mijoo had gotten into university mostly on spite alone. It's just that—her older sister was the pride of the family. She was going to be a doctor at Yonsei and Mijoo was expected to major in marketing or something and marry rich. They'd had to fill out a form during tenth grade to indicate their educational goals. Mijoo, only recently transplanted to Incheon, wrote down engineering because that's what her new friend Jisoo had written. Later, during their one-on-one meeting, her teacher had asked, with a kind of gentle tone like she was doing Mijoo a favor, "Why don't you think about something more attainable?"

So, naturally, Mijoo devoted the next three years to studying and improving her CSAT score just to prove her teacher wrong. In the end, it wasn't SKY but she'd gotten into a good school and more importantly, she'd done it. (tried to write me off)

- most self-indulgent fic: souljoo SOTUS au is, like, there is no one else in the world who would write that or want that

- most fun to write: one more kiss in the kitchen, maybe, because i find a really fun ship to write for and with the format of the fic i was able to write whatever i wanted without worrying about plot. but also maybe the most beautiful part(...) because it was satisfying to watch it come together, especially as a plottier fic written without any pressure of a deadline. (actually now that i think about it, this was written after the last few 2gether episodes massively disappointed me, so perhaps it was fun to dwell in the superior version of sarawat, by which i mean my headcanon sarawat)

- sexiest fic moment: i write exclusively to satisfy my own id so, keeping that in mind...gun sitting on off's lap shirtless with his burberry necklace on (evidence of a love), chaeng messing with nakyung's tits through her shirt (wear it out like a sweater), and teh rubbing his face on oh-aew's crotch (swallow your heart)

- lines that never turned into fics: ok wait two of these went into to be your only (the theme of these are off/tay/gun) (maybe next year, my most self-indulgent fic will be tay pining for off, a fic that appeals to exactly 3 people)

- 2021 writing goals: write the puen/than longfic i've been meaning to write all year, write some more kpop fic (onf? ptg?) not solely for an exchange or fest, write bnk48 fic???, finish this sangha/jin won sex pollen fic
