yes the second one there is the theme song from word of honor. no i am not proud. the 10th one is also on here because it was in a wenzhou fanvideo and i looped it constantly for a month. parting and follow me (from the bad genius: the series OST) were both on loop for me for fic writing purposes, though i never ended up writing anything for follow me. #8, tyl, is from the gaya sa pelikula soundtrack and it was my #1 song last year because i only got spotify in the fall (i was loyal to google play music until the bitter end) and i was obsessed with gsp. i have never seen a specific english translation for the title of #4 but it's a song from 2020 that's still charting in thailand and as someone who listens to the thai top 50 playlist A Lot, that's probably why it's so high. it's also a great ballad-y song.

beautiful beautiful was like...how is onf ever going to top the wholesome energy of complete? and then they DID. looking at this list, it seems like i was drawn more toward upbeat kpop songs this year, except for you, dark synth drunk-dazed. i was honestly kind of surprised that ASAP ended up this high because out of viral high-teen songs, i certainly felt like i loved after school significantly more, but i think that there are many entries on my top 100 songs that were just frequent flyers on spotify's curated kpop playlists. another moment of honesty: i did not like rollin' all that much when it was released, but the joyful, viral momentum of it all really endeared me. spark is from the light on me OST and it gave me heart palpitations until the series finished.

just being friendly was my most played song of the year with 66 listens and probably many more MV streams to go along with it. i love tilly birds' brand of chill rock and despite milli's style being hit or miss for me usually, she's so good here. the best part of the song is the bridge, where the music kicks up in energy and anticipation, only to be let down with that slightly delayed drum in the final chorus. you can see that i am still looping tilly birds' same page?, which is another song still charting a year later. this year i listened to a Lot of bnk48 but mostly the same five-ish songs i like of theirs. i also listened to a lot of luss, a duo of lead singer pun and producer ben that puts out songs that would fit in alongside groovyroom. also initially i was like hmm this 4eve debut is okay i guess and now i'm like i am a 4AYE i have listened to a song called booty bomb too many times.

the combination of #6 and #7 really shows you that i was going through it at some point huh. anyway i listened to by night (a beautiful indie classical song) a ton because it was the inspiration behind my gg jukebox mixtape round 2 fic. i listened to a lot of moody music while thinking about moody lesbians that month. your dog was a song i listened to on repeat in 2018 when it came out, but i was inspired to loop it again because i was thinking extensively about scorpion king and zhao jing. why bother making a fanvid when you can just play it over and over in your own mind? on the other hand i have no idea why i listened to magic of life, an opening from yowamushi pedal, so many times. i haven't watched yowapeda since 2015. it's just a pretty fantastic anime opening song.

as you can see maybe 20% of the songs i listen to are osts because i love to 1. be nostalgic and 2. occupy myself on my long commute thinking about my ships. #96, 99, and 100 were all songs i put on a "get shit done" themed mixtape for my friend when we did a mixtape secret santa. tahanan is another gem from the gaya sa pelikula. i don't know any tagalog, but i believe the title translates to home, and it's used so effectively in gsp episode 4 to convey that karl is becoming vlad's home. ♥ also i cannot believe that this shinhwa song made the top 100.
in case the word of honor brainrot was not obvious, i am wearing my wen kexing kimono while posting this.
